The objective of this course is to have students develop the basic Japanese skills needed to work without major issue using Japanese in a business environment. Students will learn expressions for use in confirming instructions, and deadlines, reporting work progress. Students will also learn methods for logically expressing themselves through short speeches.
General Business Japanese CourseTen 50-minute lessons
Provides comprehensive study in the kind of communication Japanese business situations require. Students will learn basic Japanese expressions for use in self introductions, business telephone conversation, honorific language in business, business e-mails, and business etiquette. Students will also learn methods for logically and concisely expressing themselves through short speeches.
Business Phone Call CourseTen 50-minute lessons
This course provides intensive study in ways to handle phone calls (calling, receiving, transferring, etc.) in business situations. Students will learn about how to quickly respond appropriately when the person being called is away from her desk, when having a call transferred, and when taking a message. They will also learn methods for logically and concisely expressing themselves through short speeches.
Honorific Language in BusinessTen 50-minute lessons
This course provides intensive training in honorific language, an essential element of business situations. Students will get a thorough grounding in the differences among sonkeigo, kenjogo, and teineigo, and how to use each. Beginning with the uniquely Japanese concepts of uchi and soto, this practical course will teach students methods for using honorifics often used inside and outside companies, honorifics often used when speaking with clients, and methods for conveying delicate matters tactfully.
Business Etiquette CourseTen 50-minute lessons
This course teaches verbal etiquette through useful expressions and greetings used in business situations and gives instruction in behavioral etiquette concerning areas such as appearance and dealing with customers. Through a focus on the proper way to exchange business cards and etiquette for handling visitors and clients, as well as seating order for a variety of situations, this course aims to give students grounding in appropriate behavior for shakaijin (working adults) in Japan.
Business E-mail CourseTen 50-minute lessons
Students will first learn about the e-mail format used in Japanese business situations. They will then study the differences between writing internal and external e-mails in order to request, ask questions, report, apologize, or decline. Additionally, students will acquire the fundamentals of writing notices, invoices, and other documents used in business.
